Religious buildings are places of worship and one should behave and dress accordingly. Therefore, knowing the proper etiquette when visiting mosques is of utmost importance. Please see our masjid's etiquette/dress protocol prior visiting.
Masjid Manhattan Etiquette
The attire worn should be modest for both men and women.
Women should also cover their hair with headscarves upon entering the Masjid. Unfortunately, the mosque does not provide headscarves. Therefore, sisters must make sure that they bring their own.
Revealing clothes should not be worn. Sisters should wear ankle-length dresses and skirts or loose trousers with long-sleeved tops and conservative necklines to ensure that majority of their skin is covered.
a. Men should wear slacks or loose jeans with long-sleeved shirts. Short sleeves are acceptable; however, shorts or sleeveless shirts are not allowed.
Do's and Don'ts
- Both men and women should remove their shoes prior to entering mosque's prayer areas and leave them in or on the provided racks.
Be respectful. Please don’t bring food or drinks inside the prayer areas.
Mobile phones should be switched off or to silent mode before entering to maintain a peaceful atmosphere.
Smoking is not permitted.
Photographs should not be taken unless prior permission has been given by the management.
Thank you for your kind cooperation and we hope that you enjoy your visit.
